“Then the book is delivered to one
who is illiterate, saying, “Read this, please.” And he says, “I am not
literate.”

book before this (Book), nor are you (able) to transcribe it with your right
hand: in that case, would the talkers of

“The Angel said to him: “Recite!”
and he said: “I am not a reciter” whereupon, as he (Muhammad) himself told it,
“the Angel took me and whelmed me as his embrace until he had reached the limit
of mine endurance. …Then a third time he whelmed me as before, released me and

Read! In the name of your Lord and
Cherisher, who created,
Created man, of a (mere) clot of
congealed blood;
Proclaim! And your Lord is Most

Comforter, that he may abide with you forever”.

Messenger to come after me, whose name shall be Ahmad.’ But when he came to them with clear signs,
they said, “This is evident sorcery!”

“Muhammad is not the father of any
of your men, but (he is) the messenger
of Allah, and the seal of the
Prophets and Allah has full knowledge of all things.”
